Itinerary - 7 days

Travel from LAX to the bustling metropolis of New York City.

Start your journey at the Jackie Robinson Museum in Lower Manhattan, where you’ll delve into the impact of Jackie Robinson on race relations and sports in America. Take a reflective walk along the Manhattan West End Greenway and visit the 9/11 Memorial, connecting historical events to the themes of leadership and resilience. In the evening, experience the energy of an MLB game* at either Yankee Stadium or Citi Field, observing how sports continue to serve as a platform for unity and competition.

Travel to Ellis Island to explore the history of immigration and New York’s role in shaping the American experience. Continue to the Yogi Berra Museum in New Jersey, where you’ll engage in an immersive educational experience focused on the history of gender equity in sports. Conclude the day by attending a sporting event.

Take your pick from batting cages to rock climbing to playing fields at Chelsea Piers for a morning of hands-on sports fun. In the afternoon, head to Flushing to tour the US National Tennis Complex, home to the US Open and a key site in Billie Jean King’s fight for gender equality and equal pay. Reflect on how sports have been used to challenge and change societal norms, particularly in the realm of gender equity.

Explore the intersection of sports, community, and sustainability with a local organization. Participate in hands-on community programming, highlighting how sports can be a force for positive social change.

Meet with a global nonprofit that uses sports as a tool for social change. Participate in one of their local programs in New York, gaining insights into how sports initiatives can drive global progress in fairness, leadership, and equity. Later, tour Madison Square Garden, an iconic venue that has hosted some of the most memorable moments in American sports history.

Reflect on the historical insights gained throughout the week as you travel back home. Your experiences in New York will have provided a deeper understanding of how sports can illuminate important concepts of fairness, leadership, and equity, both in the past and in today’s society.

Insight has delivered international trips for a wide variety of audiences, including both adults and youths, since 2013.
