THE HEART OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC
A piece of paradise in the South Pacific, Fiji embodies the beauty of the tropics. With over 300 islands to explore, and some of the clearest and warmest waters in the world, Fiji defines what it means to be tropical.
The Semester in Development – Fiji hosts cohorts of up to 20 students from around the world who are looking to challenge norms, push boundaries, and do things a little differently, all while developing essential skills and building global relationships. This program is well-suited for students looking to immerse themselves in a uniquely tropical and laid-back culture while learning what it takes to collaborate in a globalized world. As a participant in the Semester in Development – Fiji, you will meet, interact with, and learn from local changemakers, all while living in Suva, Fiji’s modern capital.
Program participants are hosted in a safe and centrally located housing that is maintained by Insight in the capital of Suva, Fiji
Through Insight's network of partnerships, students will work 4 days a week with an NGO or social enterprise of their choosing
At Fiji National University, students will take 2 university accredited courses during the semester with a focus on development, environment and climate change. These credits can transfer to your home university
Insight staff members are present in-country to lead student orientation, run workshops, and provide support to students
Program participants are free to spend their evenings, weekends and the mid-semester reading break however they choose. Go to the beach, explore the surrounding islands, or visit a nearby country!
