Gauchos y Golazos in the home of Lionel Messi! Asados in Buenos Aires will spice up your life like their iconic Chimichurri sauce.

Trek on horseback, enter world famous libraries and stadiums, and tour artisan markets; this program will take students through Argentina with a focus on how memory, culture, and civic participation shape identity and public life. And of course, there will be Bocas Jr. and empanadas along the way!

Through hands-on workshops, facilitated conversations, and cultural experiences, the itinerary connects human rights work, documentation and archives, and everyday forms of expression to understand how societies remember, seek justice, and build democratic accountability.

Itinerary at a Glance

Travel overnight from Southern California to Argentina.

Explore El Caminito’s immigration history and public art, then gather for a traditional Argentine asado.

Make regional empanadas, visit the ESMA Site of Memory, and meet with Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo to examine identity, truth, justice, and community-led advocacy.

Read political murals in Palermo, visit the extraordinary El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore, and learn tango through rhythm, balance, and partner connection before attending a live performance.

Visit a neighborhood club, talk with local fans and join a football clinic. Tour Boca Juniors’ La Bombonera and, if scheduling allows, experience a live match.

Explore migration in San Telmo and at the Museo de la Inmigración, take part in a murga workshop, and learn how archives and testimony support human rights education before continuing to Campana.

Spend a day in San Antonio de Areco learning about ranch life through demonstrations, shared food, community exchange, and horseback riding.

Learn the etiquette and symbolism of mate, create traditional fileteado porteño lettering, and investigate how artisans communicate value and heritage in a local market.

Return home with new insight into how memory and culture shape belonging.
