Our SDG curriculum

Global issues, brought into focus.

From global goals to meaningful learning

Insight’s UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Curriculum helps students understand today’s most pressing social, environmental, and economic challenges through learning that is active, critical, and deeply human. Designed for classrooms and educational travel programs alike, the curriculum invites students to move beyond naming global issues to examining how change happens in real communities.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals provide a shared framework for exploring complexity and interconnectedness. Rather than treating the goals as abstract ideals, Insight uses them as entry points for meaningful inquiry, connecting global systems to local realities and lived experience. Through this approach, educators are supported in helping students ask better questions, consider multiple perspectives, and develop a more nuanced understanding of the world.

Learning through inquiry and experience

Each unit in the SDG Curriculum is designed to actively engage students through simulations, case studies, and discussion-based learning. Lessons draw on real-world examples from diverse global contexts and invite students to think critically about both challenges and solutions.

The curriculum emphasizes:

  • Experiential and simulation-based learning
  • Critical thinking and systems analysis
  • Collaboration, dialogue, and reflection
  • Applying global perspectives to local action

This approach encourages students to grapple with complexity rather than search for simple answers.
