For millennia, the natural world has bewildered, inspired, and sometimes even stricken fear into humanity. Have no fear here, experience the wanderlust that has pioneered literature, artistic movements, leisure, and legislation from presidents to poets and We the People. Under a bed of stars, below a waterfall, among the perennially towering Redwoods, find yourself in Yosemite Valley, where the environment and imagination intersect.

This adventure invites students to connect deeply with nature, culture, and each other in one of North America’s most iconic landscapes. Through guided walks, outdoor exploration, creative reflection, and learning about Indigenous history and stewardship, students engage with the park in meaningful and memorable ways.

Blending adventure, education, and community-building, the program fosters curiosity, confidence, and a lasting appreciation for the natural world.

Itinerary at a Glance

Travel into Yosemite Valley to begin a field journal and set out on a nighttime walk. Using senses adapted to the dark, students discover nocturnal ecology and why dark-sky preservation matters.

Walk through Cook’s Meadow for unforgettable views of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome and Sentinel Rock. At the Yosemite Museum and Indian Village of Ahwahnee, learn about the park’s original, continuing and future Indigenous stewards through crafts, plants, structures and stories.

Join the tradition of American Romanticism. Visit the Ansel Adams Gallery and learn nature journaling through drawing, painting, writing and close observation. In El Capitan Meadow, practice compass navigation, trail wayfinding and foundational plant identification beneath one of the world’s most iconic granite walls.

Visit Mariposa Grove, home to more than 500 mature giant sequoias. The final stop invites students to consider what these ancient trees have witnessed and what it means to protect a landscape for generations to come.

Important Considerations

Expect extensive time outdoors, limited services, and possible gaps in cell reception.

Some park areas may still be snowy in May, and winter road or trail closures may require itinerary adjustments.

Physical activity is high, with daily nature walks and possible inclines. Early starts may be required.
