International Learning Since 2013

Our story

Insight Global Education has been running diverse international learning experiences since 2013. We create immersive and career-building semester abroad programs for university students, short-term teacher-led experiences for school groups, and customizable group travel programs for educators and professionals.

2013

Founded in 2013, Insight has been serving the experiential learning and international travel community for the better part of the past decade. Our original programming, launched in Kampala, Uganda, was dedicated to providing ethical study and intern abroad experiences for undergraduate students. Our pilot program consisted of 9 participating from different universities in Canada, all coming to Kampala where they studied at Makerere University and interned with a host of locally run partner NGOs.

2015

The transition from our original program scope and single country of focus, to now tackling a wide range of issues in diverse locations, spread across 5 continents, reflects our ambitions to engage audiences as wide as possible. In 2015, we began delivering short-term travel programs for high school students, with our first cohort travelling to Uganda and Rwanda in the Spring of that year. During that experience, students engaged with non-profit and community leaders, learning first hand how sustainable development, peace and reconciliation, and equitable change was taking place.

2017

By 2017, Insight was delivering immersive programs for both undergraduate and high school students in Uganda, Ecuador, Fiji, Thailand, Costa Rica, and our first location in the North, the Yukon Territory. While the organization continued to grow, at the core of everything we did was our founding principles, our guiding values that ensured that the experiences we were developing for participants was in unison with community based partners.

2021

Today, as the world continues to evolve rapidly in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Insight continues to change with it. Our focus as an education company first, travel company second, ensured we were able to adapt. By late 2020, Insight began implementing locally immersive experiences for partner high schools, as well as distributing curriculum resources for educators looking to bring global issues into their classrooms.

Not only was the curricular content appropriate and meaningful, but it provided our staff and students a caliber consistent with a post-secondary degree program of study. Insight Global Education's philosophy of meaningful change is reinforced in such a way that the impact upon students will be long lasting, and not simply educational tourism,

Every detail associated with a high school trip of this magnitude was professionally considered by the Insight team; from First Aid, to evacuation planning, to contingency plans, to housing and food, and transportation, the participants' well-being and safety was never compromised.
