High School Program
Uganda is one of our most unique and inspiring opportunities for students looking to develop a deep understanding of global development issues.
Uganda is home to a plethora of innovative organizations working to reduce poverty. Over the past three decades, Uganda’s national poverty rate has fallen by more than half. Creating a framework for economic growth and transformation has heavily influenced this change. The nonprofits and foundations with which we partner create immersive and reflective workshops for students to engage in this ever-growing movement. Meet some of the girls that participate in a skills sharing program, visit a goat co-op, take on local soccer stars as part of a youth outreach program, and learn from organization’s granting micro loans.
Uganda, commonly known as ‘the pearl of Africa’ is known for its diverse activities such as gorilla trekking, boat and land safaris, mountain treks and crater lakes. Beyond the abundant wildlife and geographic diversity, this program dives into the culture and traditions of Ugandans through partnerships with foundations and nonprofits that strive to support gender equality, poverty reduction and advocate for access to employment. Ugandans are known for their hospitality and friendliness towards each other and visitors alike as well as their strong sense of pride surrounding thier cultural heritage. Meet local change makers, discuss complex and challenging issues, volunteer on meaningful projects, and explore untouched habitats.
